Sayville, NY – In celebration of National Women’s History Month, the Town of Islip has announced that Colleen West, founder and president of Enright Court Reporting and president of Enright Sten-Tel Transcription Services, will be among the 2007 honorees being recognized for their outstanding achievements at a ceremony on March 26th at Town Hall in Islip.
West was selected because of her extensive philanthropic efforts, which include supporting several charitable organizations including the Cody Center for Autism and Developmental Disabilities, The Bob Venero Children’s Foundation, Splashes of Hope, VIBs, and the Suffolk County United Cerebral Palsy, where West currently serves on the Board of Directors.
Additionally, as a recognized business leader, she lends her experience to several advisory boards including the Long Island Business Institute, a proprietary college for professional business careers, as well as other civic organizations such as the Sayville Chamber of Commerce and the Patchogue Chamber of Commerce. Featured on Cablevision’s “Women of the New Century,” Colleen sets an example for other women who are meeting daily business challenges.
“I am deeply gratified to be honored by the Town of Islip and, more importantly, to be included among such an esteemed group of amazing, accomplished women,” enthused West. “It’s an exciting time to be a woman in today’s age and I embrace the opportunity to be part of an event that celebrates that journey. Women have never had a greater voice than in today’s global culture and I applaud those women who have used their voice to effect change and improve the human condition.”
“The Town Board and I welcome this opportunity to formally recognize outstanding women who have made important contributions to our society,” said Islip Town Supervisor Phil Nolan. “It is equally as important that we remember the women in our everyday lives, such as our mothers, grandmothers, sisters, and friends,” said Nolan. This annual event, sponsored by the Department of Human Services, has been established to honor women who have made significant contributions to the communities in which they live or work. This year’s additional honorees include: Miriam M.E. Garcia, Executive Director of Adelante, for outstanding service to the Hispanic community; Elizabeth Casey for her work in the field of alternative health care, as well as her commitment to suicide prevention; Ellen Borchers for her role in advancing women in the workplace; Eileen Skaggs for her volunteer efforts; Joy Mangano for her positive contributions in business; Jeanette Messina, for her countless contributions to Islip Town, and Jodi Ann Donato for her pro bono legal work.
This ceremony to recognize the 2007 Honorees will be on Monday, March 26, 2007, at 7:30 p.m., in the Town Board Meeting Room located at Town Hall, 655 Main Street in Islip.
